Zebra ZP 450 Windows 7 64 Bit.

Postby MichaelA123 » Sat Mar 06, 2010 3:13 am

Hello,

We seem to be having a problem.

We've been using UPS 2844 Thermal Printers with the great drivers for 64 Bit (we are running 64 bit Windows 7 across our 40 system network now) -

Unfortunately, UPS just sent us these crappy Zebra ZP 450 Thermal printers as replacements for two downed 2844's - We of course can't get them to work as UPS doesn't support any 64 bit without Worldship - and these drivers aren't even in there.

Any suggestions on finding / or getting a 64 Bit Driver that will work for the Zebra ZP 450?

Any help would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance.

Hmm, I only have the most obvious suggestion - have you tried contacting Zebra? :-k

Saso,

Ironically enough, the rep told us to look here for drivers.

You can use one of our NiceDrivers to print with our printer. We do not make drivers for that specific model because it is for UPS. If you can determine the DPI and print head size you can use a comparable NiceDriver printer. My suggestion would be to ask Zebra which printer you can use that would be comparable then download the NiceDriver.

I just wanted to chime in on this because I had the same situation. Found this discussion within my google search and thought it may help you or future people in need for this same fix.

The Zebra 110XiIII Plus (600 dpi) driver works for commanding the Zebra ZP 450 in 64 bit applications. I just advanced my new cpu and had to totally convert to 64 bit technology. The driver can be found on Zebra's website. You will need to do the "replace current driver" and you should be able to print a test page.

Two notes: In settings make sure your label roll lengths are correct, as well I had to edit my page settings from landscape to landscape 180*. This helped to print correctly on pre-printed labels.

Hope this helps.

Dear txngent,

I also have the ZP 450 Printer with my Windows 7 64bit computer. I tried downloading those drivers for the older models like you said, but all they seem to do is make utilities and vaporware printers on my computer :x , yet under device manager I cant get the ZP450 to update to those drivers. What am I missing? I hope this is a working fix and I'm just not handling it the right way. I only hope UPS can get on 64bit Win7 compatibility soon.

EDIT: Found a driver that works, go to http://www.seagullscientific.com/aspx/thermal_95.aspx and go to the Zebra driver at the bottom.

With this printer you can go to Zebra's UPS Portal at:
http://www.ups.zebra.com/ctp/form_registration_4.aspx

Next fill out the registration information (No validation of email required) and download their latest driver which contains both 32 and 64 bit OS drivers.

I have been battling these ZP 450 label printers for a very long time, and I finally figured out how to get them working.

As stated before, you need to download the most recent drivers from UPS. You need to register with them, but it is free.

With this printer you can go to Zebra's UPS Portal at:
http://www.ups.zebra.com/ctp/form_registration_4.aspx

Next fill out the registration information (No validation of email required) and download their latest driver which contains both 32 and 64 bit OS drivers.

This will lead you to a file download that puts the drivers and an installation file on your C: drive (C:/UPS Drivers).

Go into this folder and run the file PrnInst64.exe
You need to select the ZP450 at the bottom of the list, and also select the USB option.

The installation will run, but might come up with an error saying it wasn't installed correctly because their installation is faulty and does not actually assign the drivers to the USB device.

At this time, you can open the "Device and Printers" dialog from the start menu. You will notice that there is an "Unspecified USB Device". It is not in your printers, so you can't use it.

Right click on the unspecified device and select Properties.
Click the "Hardware" tab.
Double click on the item in device functions and navigate to the driver tab.
You then need to assign the driver to the USB device. These drivers are now located in the previously installed folder at C:/UPS Drivers/ZBRN/Win64. Navigate to that folder, and it will find the correct driver.

These instructions are from memory, and might not be exact, but this will give you the idea of twhat you need to do to make that unspecified device show up in the printers, and can now be used.

Shame on UPS and Zebra for not making a driver installation that actually works. Hope this helps you install these printers, and prevents you from throwing them at the wall. Good luck.
