Triggers starts but doesn't finish. No errors.

What would cause a trigger to be triggered by a file, but never complete, print or report an error. I only see this circle of dots spinning without end.

This might be caused by using a XPS printer driver, or PDF printer driver, in short a driver that prompts your for the file name. NiceLabel Automation runs as a service process and cannot interact with the desktop to show you the dialog box.

This is often seen when printing a label created for a specific printer on another machine, and the same printer driver is not installed on Automation's machine. In case of missing printer driver, Automation will use a system default printer driver, which is often "Microsoft XPS Document Writer".

To resolve the problem, do the following:
  • Restart NiceLabel Automation service.
  • Make sure you have the printer driver that is saved in the label installed on the Automation's machine.
  • Use the action Set Printer just in front of the Print Label action. Select the printer driver where you want to send the label. Ths action Set Printer overrides the printer driver saved in the label.

To add more info. We are upgrading from an older version of nicewatch and CITRIX. We have zebra and sato printers using manufacterer drivers in a CITRIX environment. These triggers and driver worked fine previously (last week )in this upgrade environment. Now none of the triggers seem to fire they just do the spinny thing forever. is there a way to find out what it does not like?

They can assist with deeper troubleshooting. Please reference this post when you make a contact.

NiceLabel Automation has a "debug/tracing" mode in which it logs the activities in more details. See help topic "Tracing Mode", but speak to Support before enabling that.
