NiceLabel 2019 - Windows 10 Crash

Post by Creegz » Fri Apr 09, 2021 11:57 pm

I have an issue that I cannot seem to get to the bottom of. I have a user who is running the free version of NiceLabel Designer 2019 and he is unable to either open or create new labels. The application opens but immediately after you press Open or Create New it will crash the application with the following in the event logs:

Code: Select all

Application: NiceLabelDesigner.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: System.AccessViolationException

This happens under any user profile on the workstation. I have upgraded it fully to Windows 10 20H2 and followed the guide about the blue screen issue with a recent windows update. The update that causes blue screens is not installed and that's how this issue started. The application worked before this time as far as we know.

I am unable to find any incompatibility with this configuration of software or any other information about this specific problem. I have even tried to reinstall anything .NET related without any success.

Creegz,

Please be sure the latest available Windows Updates (explicitly listed in this article) are installed:
https://www.nicelabel.com/support/knowl ... rch-update

For 20H2:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/top ... 74a5949bf3
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/top ... 4c68a6de33

Microsoft has published several updates about this issue describing other printer-related issues besides BSOD:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... enter#1572
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... enter#1575

If any issues persist, you may consider reinstalling related Type-3 printer drivers or contact Support directly for help:

Regards,
Mytch
