Our servers are on UTC time. Our production occurs in every time zone in the U.S. Our customers want the time to reflect when the labels were printed. Our Zebra printers do not have time chips and it has been decided to not invest in them.
I can set an offset of 20 hours which will generate a time 4 hours behind UTC time which will reflect the local time on the U.S. East coast but...:
what happens when we 'fall-back' in the fall and the difference from UTC becomes 5 hours? Is there a way to programmatically adjust the offset by an hour?
Also, the shift from UTC is different for U.S. Central, Mountain and Pacific time but our production lines all pull the label from the same location so the offset we set in the label will be wrong for all time zones except one.
Am I wrong or should this be easier to set up?
