ODBC SLOW on NiceForm

Post by bushell85 » Thu Dec 04, 2014 5:17 pm

Hello

I am using an SQL database on a server and linking it to Nicelabel via and ODBC connection.

I am finding the NiceForm very slow with navigating through the selection lists.

Any ideas why its so slow?

Using a Windows 7 PC.

The Test Data Source goes through straight away.

Hello,

this could depend on many factors, a few of those might be:
1) ODBC connection itself is slow. In this case you can try the native drivers for the database connections in NiceForm which might yield a speed increase.
2) Huge raw datasets with filter. If filters are used to reduce a huge amount of data, NiceForm still has to receive all the data first and then filter it. It is better to switch to an SQL statement that includes the filter, because then the SQL server only returns the filtered data which is only a fraction of the total.

Is there any key difference between your test data and regular data that might cause problems?

Thanks for your input on this.

I have got round this by doing a manual refresh on the preview of the label before it is printed.

Thanks
