Global Variable Counter Limitations?

Post by ajs » Sun Oct 17, 2021 9:25 am

NL 2017. Need a global variable to count in different labels - so there is a unique number in sequence across the set of printed labels each day. At the day boundary, the counter needs to reset to 001. This is easily doable with regular variables, but how to accomplish this using a global variable. I have tried scripting, but the global variable doesn't seem to land in the global repository. I could accept a manual entry of the global variable at the start of a new day - but even that is beyond me. It seems that it is not that unusual a concept - so I expect it is doable - but how?

AJS,

Global variables cannot be rolled over or reset, we recommend using SQL or access to store a counter field to accomplish this
