Different records on one label

Post by KPrinter » Tue Jan 04, 2011 9:50 pm

I need to print more than one different record (each record containing it's own UPC, description, etc) onto one label. (These are actually tags that are printed in multiple rolls and separated after printing). The fields are pulling the information from a database (Access) but I can only print one type of record at a time. Please help.

You have to tell NiceLabel to print multiple records from a database. Apparently, you have defined the connection to the database as 'print the first record' or 'print the selected record'.

You have to configure database connection appropriately.
You can do it in Data -> Database Access -> Edit -> Data Retrieving tab.
Do not select options 'first record only', 'last record only' or 'use only one record for all printed labels' when you want to print multiple records.

See this very simple sample label how it's done. The label will print all records (there are only 3) from a database.

Thank you for the reply, but not the answer I'm looking for. What I need to do is print more than one different record (data pulled from database) on one label. Something like this:

Each "Desc" is separate record (product description, UPC code, etc.)
First label: Desc A, Desc B, Desc C
Second label: Desc A, Desc B, Desc C
Third label: Desc A, Desc B, Desc C
etc.

So far I can only do this if the data is fixed, not from database.

Hello,

You can use Collect records option that can be found in the database properties dialog. This option retrieves more than one record from the database on a single label.

Hope this helps 8)

Does having a different record label affect the quality- and I'm assuming here that the popularity and cost of Fueled by Ramen stuff means better quality.

Another reason I ask this is because my dad has heaps of old CD's back from the 60s, 70s and 80s. I bought him a few from JB Hifi and he said the sound was different and didn't like them. Could this be a label-related thing? Surely, it has nothing to do with the JB Hifi store itself?

 I think you're in the wrong forum (or you have too much time on your hands!)

Thank you. I now have all fields working how on want (able to print multiple varying records on one label) but the descriptions are combined and the barcodes are separate.
[Desc 1
Desc 2
Desc 3]

UPC 1
UPC 2
UPC 3

----------------------------------
I want it to look like this:
Desc 1
UPC 1

Desc 2
UPC 2

Desc 3
UPC 3

Unfortunatly you will need to add some extra effort to achieve the sequence you want 8-[

Collect records works only the way you noticed and cannot be changed. In order to get the results you expect you will have to play arround with VB Script functionality in NiceLabel.

In case you get into problems you can turn to our Technical Support group but please note that we only cover application support for free. If you need us to prepare a solution it will result in a proposal
