Mirror label placement for reverse side of duplex print job

Post by JB » Thu Jul 05, 2007 9:58 pm

I have label stock with 3 labels across and 2 rows in 8x10 sheets. Variable print quantities on each print job. I have not found if NLS 5 can mirror the print positions of the labels on the reverse of a duplex print pass so the back of the label information matches the front of the label information. Currently we have to round the quantity requested to match the number of labels across in any given stock type to have a complete row of each label print to have the backs and fronts match. We have many other stock types, all with the same issue.

This is a new feature in NiceLabel v5. Our support group ran a quick test with your parameters below and the test was successful using your description. A label was designed with 3 colums and 2 rows on an 8.5x11 sheet. Double sided printing was enabled in the label setup to allow 2-sided design in NiceLabel.

An Access database was connected with two fields placed on the front side and two fields placed on the backside. One of the database fields was configured to control the print quantity.

When the label was printed to a duplex enabled HP LaserJet, the duplexing matched perfectly from front to back and the quantities of each record were correctly printed.

Our problem was that the data itself was in the incorrect ordinal position when duplexed. For example with 3 unique lables being printed, label 1 being top left, label 2 being top middle and label 3 being top right...The back of label 1 would have the information that matched label 3 front, label 2 would be ok and label 3 would have label 1 front information. Is this being fixed what your test found?

Yes. This was a problem in NiceLabel v4 and earlier. This is now correct in NiceLabel v5.

I am so pleased! This will save our print room so much time. You don't know how much of a production boost this will give us with the millions of labels we print. Thank you so much for adding this feature. :D
