Barcodes & Variables

Hi,
I`m trying to design a label for use on smartdate X40 using Nicelabel but I`m having a couple of problems.
Firstly, when i put a barcode in the label, it doesn`t print unless i tick "Print bar code as a graphic", then it prints OK.
Secondly, the label will be saved in the printers memory to be selected at the printer control panel, I would like a best before date on the label that the user can edit at the control panel rather than having to have a computer attached to the printer permanently.
Hope that makes sense, i`ve not had much experience with nicelabel yet, been using Colos previously.
Any help/advice will be much appreciated,
Thanks,
GPick.

X40 is one of the newer models of SmartDate printers that uses XML communication.

I am guessing you're using our SmartDate 5 driver to control it.

As far as we know the protocol is the same so it should work.
I don't know why the barcode doesn't work. If you could send me the label with the data you're using I could try to print here and see what goes wrong..

Best before dates are best achieved with date/time functionality using internal fonts.
I can send you a sample label with a setup so you can see how this can be done.

If I am not mistaken we already were in contact before so I should have the email stored somewhere. I'll use that one to send you a sample label

As stated Barcodes didn't print correctly.

This was a bug that is now corrected and fix will be available after the next driver update.

The field editing can be simply achieved by using the export to printer functionality rather then normal print.

Hello,
Do you know how to make a variable ask for it's value in the Smartdate printer controller lcd? and not in the print window dialog in the PC.

Regards!
