Markem Smartdate5

Post by henkeny » Wed Nov 14, 2007 3:36 pm

I downloaded drivers for Markem Printers but unfortunately i coultn´t find any driver for my Smardate 5, just drivers for Smartdate 2 and 3.

Anyone know if there´s a chance to work with Nicelabel and Smartdate5??

Hello!

You are correct; Smartdate 5 is not supported by NiceDriver. This is a new Markem printer model with different printer language as Smartdate 2 or Smartdate3.

However if you have some other Windows driver for Markem Smartdate 5, you can still create and print labels from NiceLabel. Printing from NiceLabel is not limited only to printers supported by NiceDriver – you can print to any printer supported by Windows driver.

Markem Smartdate5 comunication problem

Post by mariusonose » Sun Apr 05, 2015 9:59 am

Hello.

I have a Markem Smartdate 5 and i'm not able to connect her to the PC via serial cable.
I tryed in Colos to add a new printer, selected from the 8000 series list, select associate new connection, serial connection (please see image attached), click finish and nothing, the device is not comunnicating.

Can someone tell me what to do?

Thanks

Hi,

we got the same problem. But with SmartData X40.

In the last 3 Weeks we have learn a lot about SmartData in combination with NiceLabel, Colos and Codesoft.

For you: if you got a Driver for X40 printer you can use it with SmartData5 Printer. If you got a Driver for SmartData5 printer you can use it with SmartData X40 printer. The Drivers are the "same" (protocol and functions inside the driver). The difference between printers ist the printing speed and rate.

Problems that we have are: Colos and CodeSoft have the same print-function-queue. That means the printing software pushs the labels (label-data-informations) direct to the printer. Over the driver dlls inside the printing software. So you can use all functions of your SmartData printer.

NiceLabel buys the PrinterDriver and use the windows-printer-queue. So you dont have all functions like from Colos and CodeSoft. And Colos Support doesn't support this drivers and any kind of "printing over windows spooler".

The provider seagull have also drivers for SmartData. for free download. Maybe is this helpfull for you problem. it doesn't match for my problem ...

Colos software is owned by Markem-Imaje. I would advise you to contact their support as we have no experience with it.

Assuming the port settings are correct Markem-Imaje will know best as to what could have gone wrong.

If you have any issues with NiceLabel and/or NiceDrivers we'll be happy to help.
