Intermec Printer freezes when bi-directional is enabled

Post by NiceGuy » Tue Mar 03, 2015 9:24 pm

I am doing some tests with a Intermec EasyCoder PX4i printer, using NiceDrivers. This printer type can do bi-directional communication. I connect to the printer through TCP/IP on the local network, with the Advanced Port Monitor. The printer works fine if the "Enable bidirectional support" option in "Printer Properties / Ports" is disabled. However, if I enable bidirectional support the printer freezes and needs a hardware restart.

I wonder if I somehow manage to send metadata to the printer, causing it to break down. There are several settings under the Printer Settings and Advanced tabs in the Windows printer configuration menu, but I failed to find recommendations for these settings in the NiceLabel documentation. Any ideas on how to start troubleshooting this?

We had a customer with a similar problem report and the problem was solved by upgrading the printing firmware with the new version. See it this helps you as well.
