[solved] SmartData X40 and Internal Counter

Post by itservice » Fri May 22, 2015 4:21 pm

Hi,
we have NiceLabel Pro Label with Variable "internal Counter".
The Variableoptions are: Markem Imaje Font, Value has fixed length, numeric, default value = 00001, maximum length = 5, and use the printer's internal counter ...

When we download the label to the printer (over IP) and select the label over the printer-touch-screen we need to enter the value for counter (first-begin-step). and then we got a error promt ...

Here a label with counter configurations:

i hope someone has any idea or solution for the problem

Thanks / Sanel

This printer requirement for counters is that the minimum/maximum values are defined. If that's not the case you will get an error like you described.

To define a min/max for the counter you need to do the following:
Open counter variable properties.
Turn on "Advanced" view with the button at the bottom (if you haven't done so before)
You should now see a "Validation" tab.
Go to Validation tab and click "Check range" button. Turn on Min/Max checkboxes and set the appropriate values.
Now go to "Serialization" tab
Click "Advanced Serialization" button. Turn on Reset counter value (by default it will use min/max value for resetting)

This should fix your problem.

NOTE:
- Min/Max values in NiceLabel can't be smaller/greater then -32000/32000.
- Min value for the printer itself can't be below zero.

To avoid such issues I will be adding a bug to our tracking system for the driver to set default min/max values if the user does not set them himself. This should solve the majority of similar issues.

Hi,

i make a big mistake .....

In your post i see the line with "Min/Max value -32000/32000" but i define in my label the value between 00001/99999 :(

Now i have the values between 00001 and 30000. And surprise - it works!

Thank for your support

Sanel
