PowerForms Web vs Nicelabel Print

Post by huijbrem » Wed Sep 06, 2017 4:09 pm

Hi there,
Currently we have installed the Nicelabel LMS 2017 version and got Automation up and running. My next step is to make labels available to users to print them manually. I have experimented with PowerformsWeb and NL Print. Regarding to PowerFormWeb, I succeeded to assign a solution to a user, but I can't figure out how to assign a set of solutions to a group of users. In NL Print, the user can use anything you drop into a folder, but the webversion seems to be limited to a single file assignment. Did I overlook something?

The Nicelabel Web client is a one solution (label or solution file) to one user setup, whereas Nicelabel print can access files in a folder directory and print multiple labels.
If you wanted to have a Web client user to have access to multiple solutions they would need separate logins for each solution or create a solution that encompasses everything they would need, such as multiple forms and multiple labels in it

Hello,

If only 1 solution is linked to 1 Webclient user and I want the user to be able to switch between more solutions, how can I configure this?

- A simple logout does not seems to exist.
- A more practicle way to accomplish this is to make a form (portal) for this user to switch between different solutions, but I cannot find a way to call an external form properly. And to put everything in one solution is not flexible enough in my opinion.

Further, but this could be my newbie-experience in this and probably should be in another thread but: How can I still access an external Access database or Excel throughout a published form (within Powerformsweb)

By default, the Web user opens default form in a solution that is assigned to his user account.
The same solution can contain many forms and the Web user can switch between these in-solution forms. You would use the action "Open another form".

You can also use the same action to open another solution from the Document Storage. In this case, you would simply provide a filename of a second solution. Default form from second solution will load. This allows you to build the "portal".

You can use Excel / Access data source for Web printing. However, these data files must be accessible to the server, where you have installed "Web Printing Site" component. You can store these files on C:/D: etc. drive in the server, or even inside the Document Storage.
This KB article might be useful: https://www.nicelabel.com/support/knowl ... web-client

Web Client cannot use the data files from its local drive.
